Monsters in the making" is the caption that sets this negative apart from the company's many street and building views of Detroit. It records a press photograph distributed by Wide World Photos, an agency that supplied news pictures to newspapers beginning in the 1910s, and the Detroit Publishing Company made a glass negative of that print. The heading "Timely topics" from the Detroit News shows how a local paper framed current events for its readers in the years between 1915 and 1930.
