Set on the corner of Avenue C and West 26th Street in Bayonne, New Jersey, this 1935 ink drawing records the Opera House Hall at a time when many American theaters were adapting to sound film. The building served a generation of civic halls that hosted vaudeville, touring plays and, increasingly during the 1930s, motion pictures. The drawing belongs to the Library of Congress's Architecture, Design and Engineering collection, where plans like this preserve the design of a building that may have changed or disappeared since.
