Two cinema designs share this sheet: the Majestic theater on Grove Street, opposite Jersey City's City Hall, and Loew's 86th Street theater on East 86th Street near Third Avenue in Manhattan. Drawn in ink on paper in 1934, the pair comes from the Library of Congress's Architectural and Engineering drawings collection, which preserves plans of American buildings from the 1930s. Movie palaces of this era were built to hold large audiences, and the paired plans let a researcher compare how two Depression-era houses of the same chain-era type were laid out on paper.
