Its title makes three claims at once: lager is a national drink, a healthy one, and a beverage the whole family could share. That pitch reflects how lager, a bottom-fermented beer brewed cool and stored for months, grew from a Bavarian specialty into a mass-market product in the later 19th century, once refrigeration made year-round brewing practical. Advertisers of the period often stressed wholesome, domestic themes to answer temperance critics who saw beer as a vice. The poster is worth noticing for how openly it presents a beer as respectable, not just refreshing.
