Two glass negatives show a carriage carrying Queen Emma of the Netherlands and Mrs. Roosevelt, one frame catching it as it rolls away from the camera and the other as it passes alongside. Queen Emma, widow of King William III, served as regent during her daughter Wilhelmina's minority, which made her a figure of steady press interest abroad. The Bain News Service, a New York agency, produced many photographs of visiting dignitaries, and the record gives no date, so the occasion itself is uncertain.
