Snider's Catsup, a large color poster from 1900, shows how food makers of the early twentieth century used bold lithography to sell everyday condiments. The piece was printed by the U.S. Printing Co. in Cincinnati and New York, and the record credits Russell, Morgan & Co., a Cincinnati lithographic firm known for commercial advertising work. Catsup, sold in glass bottles, was then becoming a pantry staple across the country, and posters like this one helped brand names compete on store shelves and in newspapers. Note that the attribution comes from an older caption card and has not been independently verified.
