Organized by Alice Paul and the National American Woman Suffrage Association, this official program marks the suffrage procession that marched up Pennsylvania Avenue toward the Capitol on March 3, 1913, the day before Woodrow Wilson's inauguration. Marchers faced hostile crowds and too few police to hold back the spectators, and the day drew national attention to the demand for the vote. The program's color design, credited to Dale, served as a keepsake of that event and its public message.
