Titled "Before marriage," this stereograph is numbered 2890(a) and bears the imprint of R.R. Whiting's Whiting View Company of Cincinnati. Cards like this were made to be seen through a hand stereoscope, and parlor audiences of the early twentieth century enjoyed them for their staged comic scenes. The caption tracings for this card include "Courtship" and "Humor," which point to the courtship-and-marriage jokes that were a staple of the genre. The date of c1900 and the subject tracings come from an old caption card and have not been independently verified.
