Bain News Service gave this picture the title "Belle-Elmore," though the record notes that the name is unverified, so it is best treated as a working label rather than a confirmed place or person. The image survives as a glass negative of 5 by 7 inches or smaller, a format the Bain agency used heavily for quick news and feature photographs. George Grantham Bain built his New York business around such plates, which were sold to newspapers and magazines and later donated to the Library of Congress. The July 1910 date places the negative in the years when the agency was supplying a steady stream of images for the daily press.
