A 1920 French color lithograph asks the public to subscribe to a National Credit loan, a financing effort aimed at repairing the damage the war left behind. Its printed text urges readers to help hasten the revival of the devastated regions, the stretch of northern and northeastern France where trenches, shelled villages, and ruined farmland had covered much of the front. The poster is signed by Constant-Duval, and the Library of Congress lists it as item 24 in a printed checklist, which places it among the state-backed appeals that asked ordinary citizens to tie their savings to rebuilding after 1918.
