Few WPA posters announce a regional museum show as directly as this one, which promotes an exhibition by Federal Art Project artists at the Albany Institute of History and Art in New York. Printed in silkscreen with flat, bold color areas, it reflects the house style of the program's poster division, which favored the medium for its low cost. Dated 1936, it belongs to the early years of the Federal Art Project, when museums across the country showed local work to demonstrate what New Deal relief funds were producing. A date stamp on the back reads Sep 16 1938, suggesting the sheet was handled or filed two years after printing.
