City Hall Park sits at the south end of Park Row, the stretch of Lower Manhattan where newspaper offices clustered in the decades around 1900, and this view from 1911 captures that corner of the city at a moment of rapid change. The park itself dates to the colonial era and was the civic heart of the city, home to City Hall and the surrounding public buildings.
