Lights outline the facades of the Boston Club and the Commercial Club in New Orleans, the two buildings named in the title. Illuminated club houses and business fronts were a regular part of Mardi Gras in the 1890s, turning the buildings into displays for crowds in the street. The photograph is credited to John N. Teunisson and dated around 1898, though the caption card's details are unverified. The "Boston" in the title refers to the Boston Club, a New Orleans social club, not the city of Boston.
