Judge's September 27, 1884 cover, titled "Another voice for Cleveland," is a full-color chromolithograph credited only to the initials F.B. It belongs to the bitter closing weeks of the presidential race, when Grover Cleveland, the Democratic nominee and governor of New York, faced public charges that he had fathered an illegitimate child years earlier. Republican papers and humor weeklies pressed the story relentlessly, and the taunt "Ma, ma, where's my pa?" became a campaign refrain that made the scandal a staple of 1884 satire.
