A trotting race at Prospect Park on Long Island in June 1872 is the occasion for this print, which shows the horse Henry as he appeared in his heat against Goldsmith Maid and Lucy. Henry is driven by John Murphy, and the picture captures the racing style of the day. Currier & Ives published the lithograph in New York in 1874, when harness racing drew large crowds and popular prints of famous trotters sold well.
