The caption on this glass negative reads "Sir Kingsey Wood," a spelling the Bain News Service recorded from its own unverified notes, so the identification should be treated with some caution. The name most likely refers to Sir Kingsley Wood, a British Conservative politician who served as Minister of Health in the 1920s and later as Chancellor of the Exchequer during the Second World War. The negative is undated, but the Bain agency, a New York picture service, sold news photographs to newspapers and magazines, and its glass plates capture many public figures of that era.
