This poster promotes an exhibition at 4300 Euclid, second floor, in Cleveland, a stretch of Euclid Avenue that was the city's main cultural and commercial boulevard. The Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, sponsored the show, and its imagery centers on an eye, a motif the catalog subjects point to as a call to look closely at art. The silkscreen process allowed flat, bold color at low cost, which made it a favored method for the project's poster unit in the late 1930s. A date stamp on the back, April 9, 1938, places the print at that moment.
