Here the name on the caption is Ada Jones, a singer who became one of the most recorded voices of the early phonograph era, with many hit records in the 1900s and 1910s. The record gives no date, and the title comes from caption cards that the Bain News Service attached to its negatives, so the identification is unverified. Bain was a New York press photo agency that sold pictures of celebrities, politicians and news events to newspapers, and its glass negatives are a major source for American life from about 1900 to the early 1930s. Glass plates like this one were made in a larger, more detailed format than film, which is why they hold so much fine detail.
