Theodore Roosevelt faces the camera squarely in this bust portrait, a studio view attributed to the Pach studio, whose blind stamp gives its address at 111 Broadway in New York. The print dates to about 1915, several years after Roosevelt left the presidency in 1909 and while he was a prominent public voice on national politics and the war in Europe. Pach Brothers was a well-known commercial portrait studio, and its sitters included many public figures of the era. The copyright notation on the record indicates the image was registered for publication, which helped spread portraits like this one to newspapers and magazines.
