A coiled snake stands in for poison here, and the Italian words "Attenti! ...veleno!" ("Careful! ...poison!") make the warning plain. The 1919 date places it in the uneasy months after the armistice. The catalog subjects link it to Italian and German diplomacy between 1910 and 1920, so the snake likely represents a postwar threat. The record credits "Ing. C. Olivetti" as sponsor, probably a reference to Camillo Olivetti, the engineer who founded the typewriter firm, and the piece shows how Italian graphic art turned political anxieties into bold, simple symbols.
