Few circus posters promised a stunt as alarming as this one, which shows the young Parisian performer M'lle Mauricia de Tiers in a headlong leap, loop, and somersault with an automobile, billed as "L'Auto Bolide." Motorcars were still a novelty around 1905, and circus managers eagerly borrowed their thrill to draw crowds to the Barnum and Bailey show. The sheet is credited to the Strobridge Litho. Company of Cincinnati and New York, whose bold color and oversized lettering were meant to catch the eye from across a street.
