Cambridge's college buildings, the core of Harvard, are the subject here, rather than Boston's waterfront or Revere's rides. The engraving carries Paul Revere's name, a reminder that he was a skilled engraver as well as a silversmith and patriot. It shows the college as it stood in the 1760s, when the campus was still small and mostly brick, and when Harvard Hall had only recently been rebuilt after a fire in 1764 destroyed the building and much of its library. Look closely at the rows of buildings and the open ground in front of them to see how the young college presented itself to the wider colony.
