Five photoprints are joined into one composite pairing Thomas Edison with four men from his early electrical work: Francis R. Upton, Charles Batchelor, John Kruesi and Edward H. Johnson. Upton, a mathematician, helped with calculations for the incandescent lamp, Batchelor and Kruesi were machinists who built much of the equipment, and Johnson promoted the new electric lighting business. William J. Hammer, an Edison associate who collected company history, holds the copyright on the arrangement, and the c1929 date comes from an unverified caption card.
