Aimed at young people in Illinois, this 1941 poster offers free classes for men and women aged 16 and up, and it promises facts about different occupations to help them choose a path. The National Youth Administration, a New Deal agency created in 1935, ran programs to keep young people in school and prepare them for jobs during the Depression, and this silkscreen print was produced under the Federal Art Project to publicize that work. Its plain, direct message about training and career information reflects how public agencies of the period used poster art to reach working-age citizens.
