The title on this glass negative names a Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, spelled "Boews" in the record, though the catalog flags the identification as unverified. The Bain News Service, a New York picture agency founded by George Grantham Bain, distributed news photographs, and its captions were often written on separate cards that did not always survive. Bowes-Lyon's later life gives the name its weight: she married the Duke of York in 1923 and became queen consort and then Queen Mother, so the plate is best read as a lead for research rather than settled fact.
