The caption gives only the surname McLeod, shown with companions on a golf course, so the other men are unnamed in the record. Fred McLeod, the Scottish-born professional who won the 1908 U.S. Open, is one possible match, but the record does not confirm it. The glass negative belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection, a news service archive from the early 1900s, when golf was becoming a popular pastime. Because the title came from the news service and has not been verified, the clothing and setting in the image may tell you more than the caption does.
