The poster advertises a production of *Cradle Snatchers* at the Pickering Park Playhouse in San Bernardino, California, a comedy by Russell G. Medcraft and Norma Mitchell that had earlier played on Broadway. In 1936 the Federal theater Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, sponsored productions like this one to keep theater workers employed during the Depression, and its posters were often made to publicize local shows. The silkscreen color design is worth a close look as an example of the bold, flat style that WPA artists used to make inexpensive posters eye-catching.
