Older amateur musicians were the focus of this WPA-era poster, which promotes a senior amateur musical contest on the Mall in Central Park. The New York City Department of Parks sponsored the event, and the poster was printed in silkscreen, a method the Federal Art Project used widely for public notices in the mid-1930s. A monogram that may read "AD" appears in the design, and a date stamped on the back, October 20, 1936, places the poster in the fall of that year.
