At headquarters, a Christmas deer hunt is the subject of this 1897 stereograph, which pairs a holiday outing with the sporting theme. The American Stereoscopic Company of New York issued the card, and its copyright notice names R.Y. Young. Stereographs like this were sold in large numbers in the 1890s, when families looked at paired images through a hand viewer to see a single three-dimensional scene. Cards of this kind show how hunting and holiday leisure were often presented together in popular entertainment of the period.
