The West Side Market in Cleveland, Ohio, is pictured from its front corner so that the tower dominates the frame, a feature that gives the building much of its character. The market has operated on Lorain Avenue since 1912, drawing shoppers to rows of vendor stalls selling meat, produce, cheese, and baked goods. Its Italian Renaissance-style clock tower became a neighborhood landmark, and the market remains one of the oldest continuously operating public markets in the country. Notice how the corner angle lets the tower rise above the surrounding street.
