Chappaqua Farm was the country home of newspaper editor Horace Greeley in Chappaqua, Westchester County, and this lithograph shows it as a rural estate rather than a city scene. Greeley, founder of the *New-York Tribune*, bought the property in the 1850s and retreated there between editorial duties. Currier & Ives issued the print in 1872, the year Greeley ran for president against Ulysses S. Grant. He died weeks after the election, which adds a poignant note to the view of his home.
