What sets this poster apart is its direct warning to milk haulers: trucks should not collect milk from farms where diphtheria or scarlet fever cases were present. Printed in 1936 as a silkscreen by the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration, it reflects the program's use of bold color posters to carry public health messages to Ohio readers. Diphtheria was a feared childhood killer at the time, and milk was a recognized route for spreading infection, so cutting off supply from affected farms was a practical safeguard. A stamp on the back dated July 1940 records the sheet's later handling in the collection.
