Labeled simply as a ward in New York in 1924, this glass negative carries a title that the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, and that label has not been independently verified. The National Photo Company was a commercial studio that produced large numbers of city and street views in the early twentieth century. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947. Viewers should note the streaks and blemishes across the plate, which come from the natural deterioration of the original glass coatings.
