This glass negative records a view of two Harvard University buildings, Gardner and Felton, both named in the title supplied by the Bain News Service. The title is unverified, and the record gives no date, so the exact view and year are uncertain. George Grantham Bain's New York agency made many photographs of American cities, campuses and news events in the early twentieth century, and its negatives like this one were often shot for newspaper and magazine use. Harvard's Yard and nearby halls were frequent subjects, so the image is worth viewing as a record of how the campus looked during that period.
