Players work through a tackling drill with a dummy at Harvard, one of the most routine yet defining parts of early football practice, on September 26, 1912. Percy Haughton had coached the Crimson since 1908 and was known for drilling his squads hard before the season opened. The image is a glass negative from the Bain News Service, a New York news photo agency whose pictures documented sports and events of the day.
