Gerald R. Ford and Robert J. Dole share this poster, which pairs the incumbent president with the Kansas senator he chose as his running mate. Ford had taken office in August 1974 after Richard Nixon's resignation, and the record dates the poster only to 1975 or 1976, when Ford was seeking the Republican nomination in his own right. The Ford-Dole ticket lost the November 1976 election to Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale, so the poster is a reminder of a short-lived campaign. It is worth noticing how it presents the two men together as a national team.
