The title on this glass negative is "Rumskey," but the Library of Congress notes that it comes from unverified data recorded by the Bain News Service on the negative or its caption card, so the name may be a surname, a place, or a transcription error. The George Grantham Bain Collection holds tens of thousands of negatives from the agency, which supplied news photographs to newspapers and magazines in New York in the early twentieth century. Small glass plates like this one were a standard format for press work of the period, and they remain valuable for showing how news pictures were made and distributed before wire photography became common.
