The building in this glass negative is listed as the Royal Palace in Warsaw, though it is more commonly called the Royal Castle, the residence of Polish monarchs from the late 1500s until the late eighteenth century. The Bain News Service, a press agency, produced pictures like this for newspapers, and the record gives no date, so the exact year and occasion remain unknown. The castle was heavily damaged in 1939 and then deliberately destroyed by German forces in 1944, and it was rebuilt in the 1970s and 1980s, so this view shows it before those losses.
