Turned to the left in a half-length view, Theodore Roosevelt speaks here at the Battery, the park at the southern tip of Manhattan. The caption card dates the picture to around June 23, 1910, which would place it in the weeks after Roosevelt returned from his African safari and European tour to a large welcome in New York. He was then a former president already weighing a return to national politics. The copyright credit goes to the photographer Paul Thompson, though the date and location come from an unverified card.
