Issued by the Innsbruck Verkehrsverein, the city's tourist association, this color poster presents the Tyrolean capital as a winter destination in the 1920s. The design is credited to Oswald Haller, and it reflects the interwar period, when travel advertising in Austria became a distinct field of bold, simplified graphic art. After the First World War, skiing spread quickly through Austria's mountains, and Innsbruck, set in an Alpine valley on the Inn River, was well placed to draw visitors to the surrounding slopes.
