A young Princeton man stands beside a tiger in this color lithograph, a pairing that reflects the animal's long association with the university by the early 1900s. Dated to about 1902, the poster was made to promote the school, presenting campus life through a single friendly image of student and mascot. John Weston Galbraith's design fits the college advertising of its era, when a mascot gave a school a memorable face. Notice the bold outlines and flat areas of color typical of commercial lithography of the period.
