Printed in Washington, D.C., around 1903, this color poster pairs the Yale name with Bristow Adams, a figure tied to the university's track and field program. It was made by photo-lithography, a process that transferred a photograph onto a printing stone or plate so the image could be reproduced in color and in quantity. The credit lines to Andrew B. Graham and the Potomac Press point to a commercial job, and the bold title and saturated colors are typical of the sporting posters that circulated in the first decade of the 1900s.
