Interior views of the dining cars on the Cincinnati, Hamilton & Dayton Railroad, shown in this color lithograph, offer a close look at how a Pullman through train served meals in the mid-1890s. The Pullman Palace Car Company built and operated sleeping, parlor and dining cars, and by this period its dining cars offered set tables and attentive service to travelers who might otherwise have eaten at station lunch counters. The print was registered for copyright in January 1894, and its subject headings also name the railroad porters who staffed the cars.
