This view looks east along the Pike at the Kentucky State Fair grounds, past the Horse Show Building, around 1922. Caufield and Shook, a Louisville commercial studio, made the photograph, and its caption card indicates the fair as the subject. Kentucky's fair drew heavy crowds of farmers, breeders and families, and horse shows held a central place in its program, reflecting the state's long reputation for breeding and riding horses. The wide roadway and the building's scale show how much the grounds had grown to accommodate that crowd.
