The picture shows the Great Fall where the Yellowstone River drops into the canyon in Wyoming's part of Yellowstone National Park. The canyon's walls of brightly colored volcanic rock drew visitors from the park's early years, and the tourists in the subject list are part of the scene. The print was registered with the U.S. Copyright Office around 1931 or 1932, which is how many photographs from this decade entered the Library of Congress. Its date is uncertain, but it captures the steady flow of travelers who came to see the falls during the Depression years.
