This Valencia poster, issued in 1936 by a propaganda and press office, uses an English-language slogan that calls on foreign viewers to stand with Spanish workers in defense of freedom and culture. Printed as the Spanish Civil War broke out that summer, it belongs to a wave of Republican posters that unions and government agencies produced to rally support for the elected Popular Front government against the military rebellion led by Franco. Its focus on families and the working class reflects how Republican propaganda framed the conflict as a defense of ordinary people's everyday lives. The lithograph's bold color and direct message show how quickly these offices turned out posters for both domestic and international audiences.
