Spring training in Hot Springs, Arkansas, brought the Boston Red Sox to a resort town best known for its mineral baths, and this glass negative records the club's preparations in 1912, the season it went on to win the World Series. Hot Springs drew visitors from across the country, which made it a popular base for big-league teams before the regular season opened. The negative comes from the Bain News Service, a New York photo agency that covered sports and news in the early twentieth century and sent its pictures to newspapers nationwide.
