A portrait titled *George Fox* carries a date of c1835, but its record is marked unverified and names Lehman & Duval, taken from an older shelflist card. The title most likely refers to George Fox (1624–1691), the English dissenter who founded the Religious Society of Friends, known as Quakers, after preaching that believers could experience God directly without clergy or set ritual. Portraits of Fox were often produced well after his death, so the 1835 date may reflect when this print was made rather than when the original likeness was drawn. The maker and source of the image remain open questions for researchers.
