Lakeview Terrace, a housing development at 1340 West 28th Street in Cleveland near the Main Avenue bridge, is the subject here, and the slogan "Live here at low rent" makes the poster's purpose plain. It appeared during the Depression, when many working families struggled to find decent, affordable homes. The silkscreen was produced under the Federal Art Project, which employed artists to make posters for public programs, and the housing it advertises reflects the New Deal's push to rebuild urban neighborhoods with government-backed projects.
