A stereograph card from about 1904 shows the White House on Easter morning, a scene tied to the capital's long-running spring customs. The International View Co. issued it, with the copyright credited to C.L. Wasson and the number 2901 in the publisher's series. Its paired images were meant to be viewed through a stereoscope, which gave parlor audiences of the period a sense of depth across the grounds. The annual Easter egg roll on the White House lawn, which dates to the 1870s, is the best-known custom of that era.
